Ascend-IP and HIPAA In general, HIPAA requires health care providers to protect
patient privacy, ensure the security of patient data, and to adopt standard billing
transactions and code sets. Providers will meet HIPAA rules primarily by adopting
new business practices, changing policies and procedures and providing appropriate
employee training. Although healthcare software products, such as Ascend-IP, cannot,
by themselves, make healthcare providers HIPAA compliant, they can make it easier
for providers to do so. For example, Ascend-IP uses a SQL Server database which
helps users prevent unauthorized access and provides safety for your data as required
by HIPAA. Ascend-IP uses HIPAA standard code sets and provides numerous security/privacy
features to protect sensitive data. Ascend-IP users only have access to patient
data if they have been properly authorized. Ascend-IP logs access to patient data
by users as required under HIPAA. Ascend-IP will continue to be updated to help
our customers meet HIPAA requirements in new and improved ways. Please click here
