Update releases dated after July 2005 (our last big release),
contain many new features that you should read about before
implementing them. For example, new First Databank interaction checking requires formulary items to have valid National Drug Codes. You may first want to discuss some options with your HOS
support representative and/or your nursing staff.
We recommend that you

If you don't want to update the program right now,
you could go back to the previous screen and select "Update Existing
Program License". Otherwise, to continue to update the program, follow the steps below for downloading and
updating:
- Download Update.EXE to the \Ascend-IP\Update
directory, usually located in the Program Files directory on your server.
- Start Ascend-IP then select "Unpack
Update" from the "Updates" menu. [Note: Access database users
should exit all copies of Ascend-IP, and exit all interfaces, or the update
will not continue. This is not necessary for SQL database users.]
- Once the server and first workstation have
been updated, other workstations will be updated after someone logs in at
these stations (the program will prompt them to update). If you experience
problems with the update, refer to Troubleshooting
An Update for help.

Occasionally, Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) does not actually download the
latest update from the website, even though it may appear that it is
"downloading". (Hint: if the download process only takes a small
fraction of the time it normally takes, this may be why). Since the updates are
named the same each time, IE mistakenly retrieves an older copy that was
previously downloaded and stored in your computer's temporary internet folder.
If you experience this problem, delete your history and cache in Internet
Explorer (an option found under Internet Options) and try downloading again.
