Hann's On Software has interfaces with most vendors to
fully automate your pharmacy. Our standard interfaces are HL7 compatible and include BDid,
Omnicell, Pyxis, Suremed and most hospital admission/financial systems (Affinity,
Meditech, Iatric, Keane, SMS, M2, etc.) If you have a question about your particular
needs, call our sales department for more information.
First Time
Installation Follow
steps 1-4 below
.
If this is a TCP/IP interface, install the engine on a computer with an IP address that
can be "pinged" from the other vendor's computer. The Ascend-IP interface
computer must also have access to the "Program files\Ascend-IP\Data" folder
located on the Ascend-IP server. If this is not a TCP/IP interface, then the interface can
be installed on any computer that can see the Ascend-IP\Data folder located on the
Ascend-IP server. The Ascend-IP interface engine is located on the Ascend CD-ROM, or you
can download it from our website using the following link. The interface engine
download file (INT_ENG.EXE) can be placed in any (temporary) directory on the interface
computer.
1) Download the Ascend-IP interface engine
After the INT_ENG.EXE file has been
downloaded, click on it to begin the installation process. The interface should be
installed in the directory "\Ascend-IP\Interfaces\[Interface Name]". If you are
going to install more than one interface on the computer, each should have its own
sub-directory name under the \Interfaces directory. For example, if this is going to
be an ADT interface, then you could point the program to install in "C:\Program
Files\Ascend-IP\Interfaces\ADT". If this is going to be a Pyxis interface, then you
could install in "C:\Program Files\Ascend-IP\Interfaces\Pyxis".
on the
interface computer. This is required for all Ascend-IP interfaces whether TCP/IP or not.
Again, the Microsoft ADO 2.0 engine is located on the Ascend CD-ROM or you can download it
from our website (as "MDAC_TYP.EXE") to a temporary directory using the link
below.
2) Download the Microsoft ADO 2.0 drivers
After the file (MDAC_TYP.EXE) file has been
downloaded, click on it to begin the ADO driver installation process. You can choose the
"Typical" installation when the installation program asks you. If you get
any errors, make a note of them but then click on "Ok" to bypass them; usually
these "errors" are inconsequential. Note:
If you will be installing more than one Ascend-IP interface on a computer, you will only
need to install the Microsoft ADO 2.0 drivers once.
(INTERFACE.EXE). To do so, download the program using the link below. Download to the same
directory you installed the interface engine in (e.g.,
"\Ascend-IP\Interfaces\[Interface Name]") and overwrite the old version of the
program that was automatically installed by step 1.
3) Download INTERFACE.EXE (Version 2.0.146)
Install the latest version of the
interface database tables (INTERFACE.MDB). To do so, download the latest copy using
the link below. Download to the same directory you installed the interface engine in
(e.g., " \Ascend-IP\Interfaces\[Interface Name]") and overwrite the old database
tables that were automatically installed by step 1.
4) Download INTERFACE.MDB
That's it! At this point you will need to
contact a support engineer at Hann's On Software for assistance on configuring the
interface.
Update an Existing
Interface
If you have already installed the Ascend-IP
interface engine but you want to update to the latest version of the interface, use this
link. You should not download this unless already instructed by a software engineer at
Hann's On Software!
Note: If a website download process takes only a few
seconds, be suspicious. You may need to use your web browser menu options to "delete
temporary internet files" (including off-line content) which will clean out older
copies you may still have on your computer.
Before starting the download, stop the interface, exit
the interface program, then rename the program file as a backup copy (e.g., name
INTERFACE.EXE as INTERFACE.104). [If you have any problem with the new version, you can
rename the old version back to its original name and continue to use it until the problem
has been resolved.] Next, download the latest version to the same directory where the old
version was found.
